GAP bf jeans: Help!

I had a doctor's appointment today and on the way back, I decided to take the metro to the mall. I stopped by at Gap to try the Sexy Boyfriend jeans and I have to say, I'm a little confused about what these are supposed to fit like.

I first tried my regular size (see pic 1 to 3). The waist fit pretty well and these are definitely slouchier than any other jeans I have ever worn. But are they slouchy enough?

Pics 4 and 5 show one size up. These are so loose in the waist that they sit on my hip and even then, I was petrified that they would fall off! I can take these off without unbuttoning. Is this the right amount of slouch? If I get this size, should I get the waist altered?

I'm also wondering if boyfriend jeans need to be worn with a pair of heels (however low) or if I can make them work with flats? I'm picturing my oxfords with these and I like the idea of that menswear-ish vibe.

Thanks for helping!

Either size could work depending on how you want them to fit - they look great on you. I can slip my bf jeans off, too, and I like them that way. Then I have a more faded pair that are slimmer cut and more fitted. Maybe you need to buy both :)

I'm not sure how slouchy slouchy enough is, but I think the pair in your size fits properly... 4-5 are too big.

I bought mine looking just a tad bit loose than #1 and #2 but they stretched out quite a bit. I'm actually going down one size on a new pair I ordered.

I have two sizes Kirti - one smaller for a bit more fitted and then I bought one size up which are mega loose on me for more slouch. Once the hot weather leaves I intend on wearing both depending on what I'm pairing them with and the overall look I'm going for. I think it's a matter of personal preference - which ones are you the most comfy in?

Laura: I think I prefer my size, since it is baggy without being too much. Glad to know that they look 'boyfriend-y' too :-)

Emily: I think so too, the size up was really falling off!

Zap: Oh I forgot about the stretching! I think the smaller size should be okay, considering it will stretch?

Shannon: The smaller size, I think. I am not used to baggy or slouchy silhouettes!

Def. #1. Jeans that look and feel like they are falling off are not comfy.

I bought them larger and smaller too -- I love them both, and will interchange them depending on how much slouch I feel on a particular day!

I'm on team BOTH. I have multiple pairs in different ranges of slouchiness, slimness and distress. I like them all for different moods. I have not ventured into total drop crotch thus far.

    Thanks texstyle!

Ceit and jjsloane, I understand the appeal of having slouchier pair and a slightly more fitted pair...but if you could pick just one, which would you, pick? I am so confused! I hope Angie sees this too so I can have her input!

Angie got hers TWO sizes up, and I preferred that, too, when I ordered mine. To me, the baggier look makes the look feel intentional. The tighter look felt more like an ill-fitting crotch on me.

I think for you, you are more comfortable with the more fitted pair! They will stretch a bit and mold to your body as you wear them, so you will probably end up halfway between the two. If you feel the waist is too large, you won't feel good in them because you will be worried about the fit.

I will take pics, but my 'size down' to my normal size (I am usually an 8 or a 10, I got them in a 10 and a 12) really doesn't look that much different from the larger size. The legs are slightly more fitted on me, but I still have a dropped crotch, even freshly out of the package. But, mind you, I have a very flat bum so there isn't anything to hold up the jeans except my hipbones!

rae: That's what I'm afraid of - rather than looking intentional, the jeans may look like I wore the wrong size!

Ceit: Hmm, good point about these stretching and molding to my body! Hmm...
