Epiphany: I think I can define my style as...

...smart casual.

I wear a lot of jeans, coloured bottoms and t shirts, nothing very dressy. I do add in a lot of accessories though particularly jewellery and scarves and a LOT of colour. I've also started experimenting with adding in patterns and textures to make my outfits more interesting. So, while 'smart casual' may sound kinda boring, I have found that my outfits, even though they are created using very limited pieces, are quite fun. :)

When I first started reading style blogs, I really admired edgy styles - I'd love to be able to carry off a harness style belt for example or Una's really cool hairstyle or the really vintage inspired styles with lots of dresses, brooches and cutesy accessories. But in real life, those styles are just not 'me'. And that's okay, because I like how my style is evolving. :)

In case anyone is wondering what kind of outfits I wear, you can see all my WIW posts on my profile or go to my blog (http://dressupforlife.blogspot.com/).

Do you define your style persona? Or do you just have fun with a lot of different styles?

Way to go Kirti! I think you're right in your assessment of your style. It took me a while to define my style persona and in fact, I was quite resistant to labeling myself at first. I didn't want to get "stuck" in one idea but as it turned out, defining myself was quite liberating and allowed me to know when I shop what I'm looking for. Good job!

    Great!
I think I'm classic meets boho!

Super! It's so helpful to get this nailed. And I think you're spot on about your style.

I'm pretty much a "smart casual" kind of person, too. Though I'd like to add a EURO kind of twist to it.

This is a category of clothes that almost everyone has to fill. Even if you work in a business formal environment, you still need to wear something decent to go food shopping in on the weekends. You still have a wide leeway of style choices within this category.

Thanks Shannon! And yes, I agree. I find that now both shopping and getting dressed are a lot easier :)

rute: Oh yes! I love that description for your style! :)

Suz: I'm going to go look at some of your WIW posts for some inspiration!

modgrl: I agree! I don't work, so for me this is the easiest style to cultivate. Once I get a job, I will have to think of a work capsule too!

Yay Kirti! This kind of lightbulb moment is so transforming. It happened to me when I realized that although I loved so many styles on different people here, I didn't have to WEAR them, nor did they all suit my body, personal style or needs. I could admire them without having to make them mine - something about that was so freeing. You have a great style all your own and the more I see it, the more I recognize a "Kirti look". :)

Una: you've taken the words right outta my mouth! I admire everyone's unique style, but I'm glad to have a style that I can call my own. And wow! That is such a great compliment - it is so overwhelming to hear someone say that I have a distinct recognisable style :)

Nice blog! I am bookmarking it.

My style keeps evolving, but "casual minimal" is pretty much what is true to my heart. Even though I like to take chances and go maximal at times.

Yay! And I think your definition is spot-on. I enjoy your smart casual outfits and your fearless use of color!!

To answer your question, yes, I do define my style persona. I was mulling different names for my style prior to joining YLF, but HeleninCanada pegged me an MCP (modern classic princess) in one of my WIW threads, and that style nomer has stuck with me ever since. I have an urban princess and a preppy princess lurking on the inside, too but they don't come out to play as often : )
